Hola Ventana Juárez volunteers

The Ventana Juarez project is basically about using Zoom to connect content providers (Spanish speaking - yoga teachers, art teachers, musicians, story tellers, etc., etc.), who reside on the U.S. side, with the refugees on the Juarez, Mexico side.

This project is a little special. Zoom with a twist. The computer on the Juarez, Mexico side will be hooked up to a projector and good speakers. So as the content provider, your image will be life size.

In addition, rather than you as the content provider having the limited field of view of your students or audience that a typical laptop camera will provide, the computer on the Juarez side will be hooked up to a three lens camera so you will have a 180 degree view of the shelter.

So all you Spanish speaking yoga teachers, Spanish speaking comedians, Spanish speaking art teachers, etc., wanting to share your great knowledge and talents with the Juarez refugee community, you'll be able to see as many as 15 to 20 people at the same time from head to toe. Not the usual Zoom experience where you see one head for each separate device.

If you're interested in participating in this project please contact me at ventanajuarez@dormirespoder.org

Live from Beacon, New York

Malissa rocks out to a latin beat in Beacon, New York. Her friends in Padre Hector's Juarez shelter follow along.

With the special three lens camera installed on the Juarez side Malissa can see all her students from head to toe.

Gonna happen every week.

My most excellent friend and colleague Kathy inspires and uplifts

Kathy used to go into Juarez regularly - first the street mission and later the Espiritu Santo shelter. Kathy is a life long educator and with the use of the Ventana Juarez project she can continue to teach, inspire and comfort.

Serenade across the border

Rebecca performs traditional Son Jorocho music for the folks in Padre Hector's shelter. As the shelter guests gather to hear Rebecca she can see the shelter guests head to toe just like she was in a small theatre and hear her audience so clearly because the Jabra mic is amazing.
